 A week of study, surprise and satisfaction during which the interpretation of the surrounding Tuscan landscape, olive groves and vistas initially in water colour will fine tune observation skills of form and colour using them as preliminary studies for numerous monotype prints. The monotype printmaking technique will provide a spontaneous yet concentrated base for self expression. The use of fingers, paintbrushes, fabric, rollers, masking etc, will thrill even the most exhausted soul as we move into the realms of fantasy and imagination.
This small group is designed for those who are striving for freedom of expression. It will stimulate not only two dimensional creative processes but will help renew ones personal creative stamina.
 Accommodation is in an enchanting 400 year old Tuscan farmhouse with the possibility of self catering. It’s private garden full of herbs and flowers has a small refreshing swimming pool. Tuition held in the restored farmhouse barn provides a peaceful atmosphere to work in during the morning, the afternoons are free to explore the area or with consent of the tutor one can remain working in the art studio till closing, at 5:pm.
A Light lunch each day of the farms own fresh sheep milk cheeses and wines is included.
Florence and Siena are easy to reach and there will be transport to nearby S. Casciano for shopping or other daily needs. Non painters are welcome.

 Kirsten Lockie
New Zealand born artist Kirsten Lockie qualified graphic artist has investigated various forms of visual communication over the past 25 years. She studied printmaking with John Drawbridge, one of New Zealand’s finest print makers and since moving to Italy in 1983 has held exhibitions and given classes at the “Bisonte” school of printmaking in Florence. After discovering the monotype technique to be a key for opening the door to creative freedom, she has worked to promote this rare and versatile art form, giving public demonstrations and opening her studio for daily classes and weekly workshops to artists and non.
