La Meridiana

with Leslie Fehling

September 15th – 22nd 2018

Join watercolor artist Leslie Fehling for a relaxing week exploring the incomparable island of Sicily, sketchbook in hand. Immerse yourself in the history and culture of this ancient land. Visit quaint villages, bustling harbors, artisan shops, wineries, and markets. Delight in the unique experience of staying at Villa Salinara, an historic country estate built in the 1700s, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, with sunset views of the Mediterranean.

Leslie’s teaching will inspire you to dive in and create an illustrated journal of your life and travels with ink and watercolor. She’ll share the secrets of her unique style of sketchbook journaling, and show you how to create pages filled with colorful images, hand lettering and creative layouts. You’ll also learn practical techniques for painting the subjects you encounter.

All levels of experience are welcome. Start where you are - Leslie’s enthusiastic and encouraging teaching style will bring out the best in you! Her helpful drawing hints and detailed step-by-step painting lessons will help you to overcome any drawing or painting challenges you encounter along the way. And each student will receive a full-color illustrated book containing all of the course material, which can be referred to for years to come.

Keeping a sketchbook journal will enrich your travel experience by allowing you to slow down and really see all the things that make Sicily such a unique and wonderful place – the history, art and architecture, scenery, food, wine, and people. This is a different way of traveling, one where you connect on a deeper level with the place you visit, and it becomes a part of you forever.

The ultimate goal of this workshop is to soak up the spirit of Sicily while creating lasting memories of painting, learning, exploring, making new friends, and enjoying great food and wine in an incredible location.
