Watercolor and Journaling with Jude Siegel and Winnie Givot
A painting retreat in Sicily: September 11 - 24, 2011
Join us for our third trip to Italy, this time to the exotic west coast of Sicily, a unique place that has been touched by many cultures for thousands of years. Our days will be filled with painting, drawing and writing in our watercolor journals. Whether you are an experienced painter or a beginner, this will be a delightful and inspirational experience.
We will stay near Marsala, a short distance from the Trapani Airport, in a simple villa of exquisite beauty. Villa Salinara is a 10 minute walk from the Mediterranean. Close by are windmills, fishing boats and Phoenician ruins. Day trips will take us to the ancient city of Erice, the islands of Mozia and Favignana, a nature preserve high above the Mediterranean and beaches of marble pebbles where we can swim in the calm, blue-green water when the Scirocco blows from the south.
As we explore Sicily, Winnie and Jude will give daily lessons and individual help as well as encouraging people in their unique styles. This is an opportunity for art immersion as we play with color and form, with writing and page embellishments and connect with the beauty around us. There will be lightheartedness and musings in our journals and our days. Every other day we will have lessons in the morning at our Villa and afternoons will be free for rest and relaxation, work and play in our journals, and walks or bike rides to the sea. In between, we will take day trips, having our lessons in beautiful places. In the evenings we will eat meals specially prepared for us, either at the Villa or at restaurants chosen by our hosts, Adriano and Yumi. Ah, the food and wine of Sicily!
